Bob Jones Trail | Hiking and Biking

The NEW and IMPROVED Bob Jones Trail.  SLO County just came in and repaved a lot of trail and trimmed some of the trees… If you have never walked or biked the Bob Jones you deserve to check it out. Grab some family and some bikes and give it a try. If you don’t have any bikes or just don’t want to haul them, Avila Beach has you covered. There are bike rentals at both the start and the end of the trail. Just a very short walk from the start of the trail is the Avila Hot Springs. They rent beach cruiser bikes for adults and kids. You can rent them by the hour, half a day, full day or even overnight! In downtown Avila (The trails end) you can rent a variety of bikes from Joe Momma’s Beachstay Bike Rentals. They have beach cruisers, hybrid and even tandem bikes. Both places offer great prices for long rentals so you can enjoy the Avila Valley and Bob Jones Trail.

  1. I wanted to bike on the Bob Jones Trail, so I put my music in my ears and off I went. It was a beautiful day for a ride, the perfect temperature. I find this is one of the few places I can be where I can sing right out loud. I try not to sing too loudly as I approach anyone walking, but it seems if a walker hears me, they only smile and seem glad to hear and see a happy person sharing the Bob Jones Trail. I get smiles and peace signs, and now and then, even applause! It’s a happy fun thing to do, ride a bike and sing out loud. You should try it next time you’re out there. I dare you!
